Month 2-Figure Training

By Amy Pelz

This past month has been based on finalizing which competition to compete in and also establishing my splits for every week. I’ve began writing everything down. Everything I eat is recorded. Every rep and weight I use in the gym is recorded. Now that I know when I’ll be competing, it’s serious business from here on out. My competition will take place in May 2013 in Bolingbrook. I’ll announce which competition I’m doing as the time gets closer. I’m pretty excited to know when I will be competing because at the very least I can get in the right mindset.

I’ve made a couple changes to my diet since then. Before I was only eating carbs after my workouts. Now, I’ve gradually started to add them at breakfast. It’s a little scary because I’ve already felt my stomach getting a little soft. But, if I have to grow, then these are the necessary steps I have to take to get it done. I’ve also been looking into a supplement called Creatine. Your body makes it in small amounts and there are also small amounts of it in food. This might be my next move in trying to bulk up.

As for splits, I’ve decided to start the week off doing legs because that’s what I need to work on most. If I have time at the end of the week, I try to hit legs again. On average, I try to do two 45 minute cardio sessions per week.

I’ve also started to take progress pictures every month to track my progress. This month will be my second round of photos. I’m anticipating some small changes, but not many.

One last thing. This past month I got a friend request on Facebook from one of the top figure competitors on the figure scene at the moment. Her name is Alicia Harris. She is from the Wheaton area I believe. One of my friend’s knows her from the gym he goes to. She’s graced the cover of many fitness magazines and is an incredibly beautiful and inspirational competitor. She’s answered lots of my questions in regards to what I can expect in the months ahead. I just watched her compete at the Olympia in Las Vegas. How cool is that!?  With ForwardFit as my trainer and the inspiration of Alicia Harris I feel like I am on the right path.

Stay tuned next month for more updates on my fitness journey!
