2/1/11 Spotlight on Anna Henley

Questions:
How old are you and do you have any kids?

I am 47 and have 2 kids. 1 son, 23 years old and 1 daughter 21 years old.

When did you start working out?
I started working out after I had my daughter because I couldn’t afford to buy a new wardrobe. I was not consistent with my workouts. I joined Lifetime Fitness about 8 years ago where I started doing some cardio.

What do you struggle with when trying to achieve your goals?
I struggle with my nutrition. I am not a person who likes to keep a journal of my food because I feel I know what I am supposed to be doing, but then I go away from good nutrition and I see changes in my figure pretty quickly.

What is your cheat food?
My cheat food is chocolate and ice cream. I could eat chocolate non-stop.

How long have you been training with Bill Waltzek and ForwardFit?
In March it will be 4 years.

What is something you hear people say about your progress?
I am always told that they are jealous of how fit I am. I get complimented on my arms and my figure all the time. When people learn how old I am they are generally surprised. They want to know how I keep so fit. On facebook, friends are always complimenting the pictures I post when we take pictures or videos from Forward Fit.

How has ForwardFit helped you achieve your goals?
ForwardFit helps to keep me focused. I get a good mix of cardio and strength training in each class. It pushes me to limits I would never push myself to on my own. The mix of the types of workouts we do at ForwardFIt makes me look forward to the next workout.

What are some of your favorite things about ForwardFit?
There are so many things I really like about ForwardFit. The workouts are amazing and always different. Bill continues to learn new things and in turn teaches us. I like the timed challenges that we do. It puts a little competitive edge to the class. I think my absolute favorite thing though is the kettlebell/TRX workouts. They are so challenging but a great full body workout. ForwardFit is also a great place to workout because you laugh, have fun with great people and transform your life.

What advice could you give others trying to stick with their Fitness Goals?
When I started with ForwardFit 4 years ago, I wore a size 4 and could feel and see that there were areas I wanted to tone and some weight I wanted to lose. It was the first time I could see that my weight might be doing that 40 something year old increase. When I first sat down with Bill, I expressed my goals to be back into a size 2 and lose about 6 pounds. When I signed up with him I really thought I would only do one session, which consisted of 10 workouts to see what I needed to do. I re-signed after the 10 for another 10. After that I was hooked. I was doing private lessons with him and when he started offering the circuits I didn’t even think twice and signed up. I was seeing results and like the transformation. I looked leaner and toned. I was getting complimented on my figure and being asked how and what I was doing. This is something I could not accomplish in all the years working out on my own. I had my 6-pack abs back and muscle definition in my arms and back. I made it back into a size 2. I tell you this story because the last 4 years were not easy. You will be sore and there will be days you don’t want to workout, but push through those feelings. Keep your goals realistic and when you see that you made it to one goal, focus on another one. It is important to know that you can not achieve your goals on just nutrition, cardio or weight training on it’s own. You will see some results but when put all together the results are endless. When you push through your fears and emotions of staying on a new lifestyle you will feel amazing and be able to do things you never thought possible. 4 years ago I never ran, I now run 5Ks! Just keep focused and have fun.
