Yesterday it all became a little more real for the first time since I decided to compete. I signed up! It’s confirmed. A dream became a reality all in a matter of a few clicks.
To be honest, I thought this would be an enormous amount of work, but what I signed up for is just plain crazy! I’ve been reading up on every single little detail of this process including hair, makeup, nails, waxing, tanning, jewelry, suit, teeth whitening, posing and my individual routine. It’s a lot to handle and I don’t work well under pressure. The detail itself is absolutely, positively mind blowing. A lot of it sounds silly like gel to keep my bikini in its place and Vaseline on my teeth to prevent me from licking them. Then there’s extra bed sheets for when the spray tan is applied. It’s almost overwhelming. But, the key is to come armed and prepared to the best of my ability. I’m trying to not think of it as a whole. I’m breaking everything down so by show time the whole picture should come full circle.
Posing and quarter turns can make or break your entire presentation. It is extremely important that this portion is on point. Flex this, relax that, always smile: All this while exuding 100% confidence. There are so many tiny things to remember. I’m hoping I can remember it all. With enough practice though, it should be second nature come show time.
My individual posing routine is also a whole other story as well. After watching hours and hours of examples, it’s still not becoming any easier trying to put a routine together. It’s physically and mentally exhausting. So, I’m enlisting Bill as my choreographer. I hope that he can help take some of the stress away.
Sixteen weeks until stage time! More updates to come…
